Transaction Fees

Fee Structure and Distribution

Platform fees are integral to the Basis ecosystem. One base fee applies to every token. Creators can add a creator fee and a rewards fee on top, within caps the contract fixes.

Transaction Fee Rates

Every buy, sell and bet pays a base fee, currently 0.60% (0.54% once your wallet has set a referrer). A token's creator can add a creator fee of up to 1% and, on a token launched with holder rewards, a rewards fee of up to 0.5% to 10% depending on the token's dial. The app shows the live total for each token.

Rewards fee0 up to the token's cap (0.5% to 10%, by dial)the creator, on a token launched with holder rewardsthe token's holders

A main token itself (STASIS on the first pair) pays the base fee only.

Predict+ note: a bet pays the base fee plus the market's creator fee. The base fee flows through the split below and the creator fee is paid in full to the market's creator. Market tokens have no rewards fee. There is no winning-pot recycling and no bounty pool: the pot mechanism described in earlier versions of this document was removed from the contracts and is not in operation. A sale of shares on the order book charges the fee to both buyer and seller.

A wallet with no referrer sends 65% of its base fee on a token trade to the buyback. SOCIAL keeps its 15% per traded token and pays it to the authors of Alpha+ posts on that token. On a bet, the SOCIAL share goes to the buyback instead, so a bet sends 60% to the buyback (80% with no referrer). The creator fee and the rewards fee are charged on top of the base fee and paid in full: the creator fee to the token's creator (it can be split across up to 10 wallets via Dev Tax Sharing), the rewards fee to the token's holders. Payouts are made in the pair asset of the token's main (USDG on the STASIS pair).

Referral Discount

Set a referrer once and you pay 10% less base fee on every trade and bet from then on. Your referrer earns 15% of your base fee and their referrer 5%, paid in the pair asset. The referrer needs no trading history. Once set, you can't change it yourself. Leveraged buys and loan fees carry no referral share.

What the contract fixes: the base fee can never be set above 2%; a creator fee can never exceed 1%; a rewards fee is capped by the token's dial, from 0.5% to 10%; a creator can change each of those two fees at most once per cooldown (currently 4 hours); the split percentages are constants.

This is a token trade. Creator and rewards fees come on top, per token.

Important: Fees vs. Price Appreciation

For Stable+ tokens: Trading fees do not prop up the price. Price appreciation comes solely from slippage retention. Fees are distributed separately through the split above. One exception is STASIS itself: the vault's 10% share of the base fee is used to buy STASIS, so that part of a fee is a buy of STASIS.

For Floor+ tokens: the same holds. The floor rises as the token trades and, measured in USDG, also as STASIS itself rises.

Creator Fee and Rewards Fee

A token's creator can set two fees: a creator fee of up to 1%, paid to the creator with every trade, and, on a token launched with holder rewards, a rewards fee up to the token's cap (0.5% to 10%), paid to the token's holders. Each can be changed at most once per cooldown, currently 4 hours.
