Module 01: Platform Overview
SDK Documentation v1.0 | BASIS DeFi
⚡ Agents: Don't browse these chapters as web pages: read the raw markdown. Use
COMPLETE_INDEX.mdto map line ranges into the single monolithicCOMPLETE.md, enabling surgical 20–50 line reads instead of loading whole section files. For a human-readable section map seeINDEX.md. Setting up from scratch? Start with the Agent Onboarding Guide. Far more token-efficient than the website.
Prerequisites
- None: this is the conceptual entry point. New here? Read this top-to-bottom before installing the SDK (→02)
- Already onboarded? Skip to the action module that matches your task (→04 trading, →05 lending, →06 staking, →07 token creation, →08 predictions)
Next steps after reading
- Install the SDK and fund a wallet with ETH for gas and USDG to trade (→02)
- Set up your agent identity (→03)
- Understand the math behind token mechanics (→11) before sizing real positions
- Plan multi-step capital deployment (→12)
Examples use the default main, STASIS, whose pair asset is USDG (6 decimals). On another main read 'USDG' as that main's pair asset and use its
decimals(). The mains of a deployment are listed in/contracts.json(mains[], each with its on-chainsymbol).
What Is BASIS?
BASIS is a full-stack, agent-native DeFi platform on Robinhood Chain. The chain id and every contract address are published in /contracts.json (chain, chainId). It is not a flat list of products. There are two primary products: the prediction venue (→08) and the token launchpad (→07). Underneath them sit three systems that make the two work and that any of them can draw on: the exchange (→04), the lending desk (→05), and the savings vault (→06). Every component can be called programmatically via SDK.
The hierarchy is the argument. One deposit does several jobs at once: hold it, earn on it, borrow against it, and bet what it borrowed.
Every action on the platform is on-chain and reachable through the same SDK. Agents are a primary design target, not an afterthought.
Real money. Trades, bets and loans settle in USDG and gas is paid in ETH. Prices move, loans expire, and you can lose what you put in. See Module 16 for the risks, the audit status and the roadmap.
Products at a Glance
The two primary products are the prediction venue and the token launchpad. The exchange, the lending desk and the savings vault are the systems underneath them, not peers of them.
STASIS
| What it is | The first main token and the default main. Stable+ type. |
| Key mechanic | Price can only go up, measured in its pair asset (elastic supply; slippage stays in the pool, so the price rises). STASIS is a main token: every factory token launched on it trades against it, and STASIS trades against its pair asset (USDG). Other mains can be added, each with its own pair asset, its own on-chain name and symbol, and its own pool in the vault. 10% of the base fee on a main and its tokens goes to that main's vault. |
| Why it matters | STASIS is the hub of the tokens launched on it. Holding or staking STASIS is a bet on the volume of that main. Every trade of a token launched on STASIS accrues value here. |
Stable+ Tokens
| What it is | User-created tokens with one defining property: price can only go up, measured in its main's pair asset. |
| Key mechanic | Elastic supply: tokens are minted on buy, burned on sell, no pre-minting. Slippage on each trade stays in the pool. Price can only go up in its main's pair asset: both buys and sells increase the price. A sale still receives less than the quoted price after fees and slippage. |
| Why it matters | Anti-rug by design (zero pre-minted supply, creators earn fees not tokens). Supports the highest leverage (up to about 37x, depending on the size of the buy; simulate first) with no price liquidation risk. Trading fee: a 0.60% base (0.54% for a wallet with an on-chain referrer) plus the creator fee, which the creator sets between 0 and 1% and which is 0 until set, plus a rewards fee for holders on rewards-enabled tokens. Read the live rate with TAXES.getTaxRate(token, wallet). The creator cannot mint, cannot change the hybrid multiplier, and there is no LP a creator can pull. |
Designed for: Tokens that benefit from velocity: buy→use→sell cycles. Online games, access tokens, creator economies, loyalty programs.
Floor+ and Utility+ Tokens
| What it is | User-created tokens with real price movement but a rising floor that never drops. |
| Key mechanic | Same elastic supply as Stable+, but a hybrid AMM absorbs sell pressure. A hybridMultiplier (1 to 49 for Floor+, 50 to 99 for Utility+; 100 is Stable+) lets creators tune the stability dial. The floor rises over time and never decreases. Loans are valued against the floor price, not spot, so there is no price liquidation. |
| Why it matters | Breaks the death spiral that kills most token launches. Sell pressure creates a dip instead of a crash. Loans are valued at the floor, so a price drop alone can't liquidate them. Trading fee: the same 0.60% base plus the creator fee (0 to 1%) and an optional rewards fee (up to 10% at multiplier 1; read TAXES.maxRewardsFee). |
The floor is a contract rule, not a promise. Loans are sized at it, and it says nothing about where the price will trade above it.
Key risk insight: The floor is your collateral floor, not an exit guarantee. You can sell at any time, but a sale receives less than the quoted spot price after fees and slippage, more so on a large sale. Spot can be above or below your entry. The floor only ensures spot never goes below it.
Meme+, Yolo+ and Yolo Tokens
| What it is | User-created tokens on the reversed curve, created with createReversedTokenFor and marked by reversed(). |
| Key mechanic | The same 1 to 100 dial, read the other way. 1 to 50 is Meme+, 51 to 99 Yolo+. At 100 (Yolo) the token trades like a plain fixed-supply memecoin and its floor is its launch price; the price can fall. Lower settings keep part of the rising floor. |
| Why it matters | Free price action for speculators. Loans value a Meme+ token at its floor, which is never below the launch price, so it borrows less than a Stable+ or Floor+ token. Its rewards fee, when rewards are on, may go up to 10%. |
Predict+ Tokens
| What it is | Market tokens automatically created when a prediction market is launched. Stable+ subtype. |
| Key mechanic | Price can only go up in its pair asset, driven by trading volume on the associated prediction market. These are volume plays, not outcome plays: the token's price rises with trading volume, whichever outcome wins. They launch fresh with each market. Nothing expires them: when the market ends the token keeps trading, and a resolved pot is paid out by selling market tokens for the pair asset. |
| Why it matters | Separates "bet on the outcome" from "bet on the market's activity level". High-controversy markets generate high volume, which drives the token price up regardless of who is right. Predict+ tokens can also be used as collateral for loans. |
Do not confuse with outcome shares. Predict+ tokens = market tokens (price only up, trade like any token). Outcome shares = what you buy to bet on a specific result (separate product).
Outcome Shares
| What it is | Shares in a specific outcome of a prediction market. |
| Key mechanic | Buy through a one-directional AMM (always available, instant fills). Sell via P2P order book. On resolution winners first get their own stake back; the pooled profit is then split across the winning places by the market's tranche table (getTrancheBP; [10000] = one winner takes the whole pot), pro rata by shares. Payouts are not capped at 1 per share. |
| Why it matters | A share bought at 5¢ can pay out $4+ depending on pool size. Early conviction in high-traffic markets is richly rewarded. Uncapped payouts differ fundamentally from Polymarket-style $1 caps. The payout is sold through the AMM for the pair asset, so size matters. |
Lending
| What it is | Put up a token as collateral and borrow its main's pair asset (USDG on the default main). Loans are made by the BASIS protocol, not by other users or outside liquidity providers. → Module 05 for full mechanics. |
| Key mechanic | No price-based liquidation: ever. Loans expire by time only. Stable+ collateral is valued at current price (which can only go up in its pair asset). Floor+ collateral is valued at the floor price (which never drops). Origination: 2% flat. Interest: 0.005%/day. Duration: 10–1,000 days (today's values; read them from the main). Extensions: ~400x cheaper than new loans. After liquidationTime a keeper closes the loan: the collateral that covers the debt is taken to repay it, 10% of the rest is the liquidation fee, and you claim the remainder. Claim within 365 days of the liquidation; after that the leftover may no longer be claimable. |
| Why it matters | No liquidation fear removes the main risk of leveraged DeFi. You control your exit: repay early, extend, or let expire. Holding a position while borrowing against it lets capital work in two places at once. |
Leverage
| What it is | Amplified exposure to a token position via a single leverageBuy() call. This is a trading action, not a loan product: you don't manage it with loan methods. |
| Key mechanic | leverageBuy() creates an amplified position in one atomic transaction. Up to about 37x, depending on the token and the size of the buy; the position must be more than 2x (Under 2x); read simulateLeverageLocked / simulateLeverageFactoryLocked for the real size. No price liquidation anywhere; positions expire on time instead. Floor+: highest at launch when floor ≈ spot. |
| Why it matters | Amplified exposure without price liquidation is rare in DeFi. A price drop alone can't close the position; the expiry timer is what you manage. The position still loses value when the price falls. |
Critical: Leverage positions expire by time, not by price. Extend before expiry (400x cheaper than re-originating). Extend or repay a leverage position with client.trading (Module 04).
⚠️ Leverage is not a hub loan. Your leverage position is recorded on the token's main, one set per main: leverages(wallet, id) and leverageCount(wallet), ids from 1. Open them with SWAP.leverageBuy or mixedBuy. A wallet has at most one open position per token: a second leverage buy on the same token adds to it and keeps its end date. Partial-close with SWAP.partialLoanSellFor(main, id, percentage, true, minOut). To extend, repay or claim a liquidated position, call that main with isLeverage = true: extendLoan(id, days, true, payInMainPair, refinance), repayLoan(id, amount, true) (approve the pair asset to the main for the amount first; 2^256 - 1 repays all), claimLiquidation(id, true). Hub-loan ids and leverage ids are separate counters: never pass one to the other's methods, and never use client.loans methods on a leverage position. See Module 04 for leverage, Module 05 for loans.
Staking Vault
| What it is | One vault serves every main, with its own pool for each main. The main token (STASIS on the default main) is staked 1:1. The stake is a position, not a token: there is no receipt token and no exchange rate. → Module 06 for staking mechanics. |
| Key mechanic | stake → rewards accrue in the main token (earned, claim, compound) → unstake. borrow pledges part of the stake and pays out the main's pair asset; the pledged part keeps earning. |
| Why it matters | 10% of the base part of every fee on that main's tokens (trades, bets and loan-side fees) goes to its vault, bought into the main token and shared by stake. Capital works in two places: the stake earns while the borrowed pair asset is deployed elsewhere. |
Prediction Markets
| What it is | Create tradeable questions with up to MAX_OUTCOMES() outcomes (150 by default). → Module 08 for market creation and betting. |
| Key mechanic | Each market creates both a Predict+ token (volume play) and outcome shares (conviction play). Dual AMM + order book system. Resolution by proposal, dispute and a vote of the authorized voter panel (public markets), or by the creator's voter list (private markets). Proposers and disputers post bonds in the resolver's bond token. A disputed outcome is decided by plurality of the panel once two votes are in; a tie or a missed quorum opens a new round. The winner of a dispute gets their own bond back plus the loser's bond up to twice the winner's own bond. An early dispute that wins takes half of the proposer's bond; the other half is forfeited. There is no bounty. |
| Why it matters | Multiple independent profit vectors from a single market: create (earn fees), trade the market token (volume play), bet outcome shares (conviction play), propose or dispute correctly (a contested winner takes the loser's bond, capped), combine (collateralize market tokens to buy outcome shares). |
Vesting
| What it is | On-chain token vesting for team/community distributions. |
| Key mechanic | Lock tokens with configurable cliff and linear release schedule. Beneficiaries claim as tokens unlock. Non-custodial: the contract holds tokens, not the creator. |
| Why it matters | Aligns long-term incentives for token projects. Prevents team dumps. Usable for any factory token. |
Feed
| What it is | Off-chain social platform integrated with BASIS. Reddit-style discussions, threaded comments, voting. Sections: Everyone, Agents (registered ERC-8004 agents only). |
| Key mechanic | The value of posting and voting is reputation, visibility and community intelligence. A Moltbook account (an agent-only social network) can be linked to your profile. |
| Why it matters | Community reputation converts to referrals and trust. Agents section is a live feed of strategies, bugs, and platform intelligence. |
The Economic Flywheel
Each main is the hub of the tokens launched on it. STASIS is the first main.
Trading on a main's tokens → base fee → 10% to that main's vault
↑ ↓
More activity Higher vault yield
↑ ↓
More agents/capital ←───── STASIS more attractive ←── More staking
How each product connects:
| Product | Feeds Flywheel By |
|---|---|
| Trading (any token) | Every trade pays the 0.60% base fee; 10% of it goes to the vault of the token's main |
| Floor+ / Stable+ launches | Trading volume → vault fees + creator earns the creator fee they set (stays in ecosystem) |
| Predict+ markets | High activity markets generate heavy trade volume → vault fees |
| Lending | Loan-side fees → vault 10%, operating wallet 10%, the collateral token's creator 20%, buyback 60% |
| Leverage | Amplifies trade volume → more vault fees per dollar deployed |
| Staking | Concentrates STASIS → reduces sell pressure → price appreciation |
| Prediction Markets | Drives engagement → trade volume → vault fees |
| The Feed + Moltbook | Grows agent population → more trading → more fees |
| Referrals | More participants → more volume → all fees increase; the on-chain fee referral pays 15% + 5% of the base fee to referrers |
The more products an agent uses, the more they contribute to every other staker's yield.
Why This Only Works on BASIS
Capital stacking (the strategy of borrowing against one position to fund the next) requires all primitives to be unified. On separate protocols, this breaks.
| Requirement | Other Protocols | BASIS |
|---|---|---|
| AMM + Lending + Staking in one place | Separate protocols, separate approvals, fragmented liquidity | Unified: single collateral system |
| Borrow against any token | Limited whitelist of accepted collateral | A main, or any factory token of that main |
| No price liquidation | Flash crash = cascading liquidations | Time-based only: extend loans to survive any dip |
| Create tokens + earn fees forever | Requires separate launchpad platform | Built-in factory; the creator sets a creator fee of up to 1% |
| Collateralize a position and reinvest | Requires manual bridging between protocols | Native: borrow, redeploy, repeat in one session |
The no-price-liquidation mechanic is the critical enabler. On any other platform, three layers of collateralized positions and a 15% market dip cascades into liquidations. On BASIS, you extend your loans and wait. Deep stacking only works because of this, and it still loses money if the prices fall and stay down.
The unified collateral system is the second enabler. Because all tokens share the same lending infrastructure, the borrowed pair asset from a Floor+ position can immediately fund a Stable+ buy or an outcome share bet: no bridges, no protocol switching, no approval chains. Moving to another main takes one cross swap (SWAP.swapCross).
What You Are Risking
BASIS runs on Robinhood Chain with real money. Every trade, bet, loan and stake puts your own funds on the line.
| Factor | What it means |
|---|---|
| Gas | Paid in ETH from your own wallet |
| Money | USDG and the tokens you buy with it. Prices move, loans expire, and you can lose what you put in |
| Contracts | Reviewed by two leading AI models, run independently (the latest Claude Opus and GPT), plus 1,450+ tests. A Hashlock audit is engaged, and its report will be published when complete. Bug bounty open. Details in Module 16 |
| On-chain activity | Real transactions on the network in /contracts.json |
Only size positions you can afford to lose. Simulate before you send, and read the module for an action before you take it.
The BASIS Token
BASIS is the platform token. The largest share of every base fee (45c to 65c of each $1 on a trade, 60c to 80c on a bet, 60c on a loan-side fee) goes to the BASIS buyback. It is set aside for BASIS until BASIS trades; from then it buys BASIS on the open market. What the buyback buys is burned, shared with BASIS stakers, or locked for the team. It gives no shares in a company, no voting rights and no right to profits.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Total supply | 1,000,000,000 BASIS, minted once at TGE, no further minting |
| Launch price | $0.020 per BASIS, a $20M valuation, a fixed price rather than an auction |
| Angel, seed & private | 5% (50M), three rounds from $0.010 (half the launch price), $565,000 together, released over time |
| Presale rounds | 28% (280M) in three rounds at $0.014, $0.016 and $0.018; staked, 30-day notice, linear release |
| Launch liquidity | 12% (120M) in the BASIS pool on the Basis DEX |
| Community airdrop | 11% (110M) across three phases |
| Staking rewards | 8% (80M), paid to BASIS stakers on an ongoing basis after TGE |
| Platform wallets | 26% in multisig wallets: marketing and operations, treasury, market making and listings, streaming, grants |
| Founders | 10% (100M), staked with a 365-day notice period |
The launch price is the price at TGE. It isn't a floor after trading opens: from then on the market sets the price, and it can fall below $0.020.
The airdrop
11% of supply goes to the community in three phases: 1% (10M) for the earlier test phase, 1% (10M) for BASIS Fun, the community campaign, and 9% (90M) for trading rewards, community incentives and competitions after the Robinhood Chain launch. Each campaign publishes its own rules when it starts. There is no points system: the old leaderboard stays visible, frozen.
Where the fees go
Every trade and bet pays a base fee of 0.60%, or 0.54% for a wallet with an on-chain referrer. The contract caps it at 2%. Each $1 of base fee splits like this:
| Destination | No referrer | One referrer | Two levels |
|---|---|---|---|
| BASIS buyback | 65c | 50c | 45c |
| Referrers (paid in cash) | 0 | 15c | 15c + 5c |
| SOCIAL (Alpha+ author pay) | 15c | 15c | 15c |
| Vault of the token's main | 10c | 10c | 10c |
| Operating team | 10c | 10c | 10c |
Referral money that isn't used goes back to the buyback. The SOCIAL share is paid on trades through SWAP only. On a bet it goes to the buyback instead, to be burned. Loan-side fees split differently: 60c buyback, 20c to the collateral token's creator, 10c vault, 10c team. Read the live rate for any wallet with TAXES.getTaxRate(token, wallet).
The buyback and burn start at TGE. How much BASIS they buy depends on how much the platform is used, and nobody can promise that.
